Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive DevOps Engineer to own and evolve our cloud infrastructure and deployment practices. You will play a central role in managing our
AWS-based platform, improving automation, and building out robust monitoring and alerting capabilities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and takes pride in keeping complex distributed systems running reliably and efficiently.

You will work closely with our backend engineering team to support a microservices architecture consisting of multiple REST services communicating via direct calls and AWS SNS/SQS messaging, deployed on Kubernetes across our cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud Management
  • Own and manage our AWS infrastructure, including Kubernetes cluster configuration, networking, IAM, and environment management across dev, staging, and production.
  • Administer and optimize AWS services including SNS, SQS, Cognito, and SAM-based deployments.
  • Ensure infrastructure is secure, cost-efficient, and scalable as our platform grows.

CI/CD & Deployments

  • Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, repeatable deployments.
  • Oversee deployment processes for our REST microservices, ensuring minimal downtime and safe rollout strategies.
  • Collaborate with developers to define and enforce deployment standards and branching strategies.

Monitoring, Alerting & Observability

  • Build and enhance monitoring and alerting systems to give the team full visibility into the health and performance of our services.
  • Manage and extend our logging infrastructure ensuring proper log aggregation, searchability, and retention policies.

  • Define SLOs and create dashboards and alerts that surface actionable signals.

Automation & Reliability

  • Drive automation of repetitive operational tasks, from infrastructure provisioning (IaC) to deployment workflows and incident response runbooks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews to continuously improve system resilience.
  • Champion DevOps best practices across the engineering team.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of hands-on DevOps.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS — including EKS/Kubernetes, IAM, SNS, SQS, and SAM.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes for environment configuration and service orchestration.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines with ArgoCD and GitHub Actions/Flows.
  • Familiarity with AWS Cognito or similar identity and authentication services.
  • Experience with logging and observability platforms (OpsVerse/Stackgen experience a plus).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar for automation.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security groups, and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving startup environment with high ownership.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Redmond/Seattle, WA.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Background in FinTech or regulated industries with understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization strategies.
  • Exposure to distributed tracing tools such as AWS X-Ray or OpenTelemetry.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to build and shape the DevOps function from an early stage.
  • A collaborative, expert team working on genuinely innovative technology.
  • Competitive salary, equity participation, and room for significant professional growth.
