About the Role & Team

Our client is looking for a Founding Engineer (Backend / Infrastructure Focus) to own complex health-data pipelines and core infrastructure in a HIPAA-regulated environment.

This role is ideal for a software engineer with a strong bias for ownership—someone who can take a seed of an idea and turn it into a real system used by customers. You will act as a domain expert across backend and infrastructure systems while also contributing across the stack in a fast-moving early-stage environment where requirements evolve and ambiguity is normal.

You will work directly with the founding team in a small, flat, collaborative environment where engineers drive projects end-to-end and contribute across the stack. The team operates with high trust, strong ownership, and a focus on shipping real products quickly.

This is a fast-paced startup environment where engineers are expected to make key technical decisions, iterate rapidly, and help build the platform powering a new generation of preventative healthcare products.

What You’ll Be Doing

Own the core health-data ingestion and processing layer, integrating wearable APIs, EHR/FHIR data, PDF extraction outputs, and other structured or semi-structured inputs into clean, queryable domain objects.

Design and maintain data APIs consumed by web and mobile clients, as well as AI agents and internal subsystems.

Continue development of the existing Python application or guide a deliberate reboot if a different stack proves more strategic.

Lead infrastructure strategy including infrastructure-as-code, build and release pipelines, observability, HIPAA-aligned security posture, and long-term scaling strategy.
