Sr. Product Owner
About the Role
This is a 3–4 month contract role with the possibility of permanent placement in the future. The Product Owner is responsible for translating business and stakeholder needs into actionable requirements that drive delivery within Agile development teams.
While the Product Manager defines the strategic direction of the product, the Product Owner converts that strategy into detailed user stories, backlog prioritization, and sprint planning.
This role requires deep understanding of compliance, third-party administration (TPA), operations, client servicing, and workflow efficiency. The Product Owner ensures that product changes reduce risk, improve processing efficiency, and enhance both client and member experience.
What You’ll Do
• Build, refine, and maintain a clear, prioritized backlog aligned with product strategy.
• Create detailed user stories and acceptance criteria reflecting stakeholder needs.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering and business stakeholders.
• Validate that delivered functionality meets business requirements and acceptance standards.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and remove impediments to maintain delivery flow.
• Promote servant leadership and team autonomy.
• Track team performance metrics and drive improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with end users to gather insights, clarify requirements, and validate designs.
• Document system behavior and functionality for reference and training.
• Support troubleshooting by understanding system behavior, root causes, and solution options.
• Coach the team on Agile principles and identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and risk reduction.
• Use evidence and operational data to drive requirement decisions.
