The Role

Our client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (AI Lead) to help shape and scale a growing engineering organization. This individual will set a high bar for technical excellence while contributing hands-on to AI-driven architecture and product development.

You’ll play a critical role in building sophisticated backend systems that power an end-to-end procurement platform, with a specific focus on AI agents, RAG systems, and production-grade machine learning capabilities.

This role requires deep technical experience, strong product instincts, and the ability to collaborate with leadership to align AI strategy with broader company objectives.

Your Impact

As a senior technical leader, you will help drive both engineering rigor and AI innovation. You should bring hands-on experience with modern AI tooling (e.g., Cursor, CodeRabbit, similar AI-assisted development tools) as well as frameworks such as LangGraph.

You will be responsible for building:

• AI agents to orchestrate and automate domain-specific workflows using repeatable, scalable patterns

• RAG systems supporting internal knowledgebases

• AI-powered analytics and predictive modeling systems used in production

Additional responsibilities include:

• Leading technical design and development across backend systems, APIs, and microservices

• Partnering with product and operations leadership to evolve AI platform strategy

• Ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across data systems

• Establishing strong engineering standards and best practices

• Mentoring engineers and fostering technical growth

• Leading projects from architecture through deployment and long-term maintenance

• Supporting DevOps functions to maintain high availability and system performance

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering

• 2–3+ years of hands-on AI delivery in production environments

• Strong experience with agile development methodologies

• Proficiency in backend languages such as Node.js, TypeScript, Golang, or Python

• Experience designing and building REST and/or GraphQL APIs

• Experience building microservices in AWS

• Strong SQL experience (Aurora Postgres or similar relational databases)

• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines

• High AI fluency — comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate workflows and creativity

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
